Tinnitus Functional Index

There are already several standardized questionnaires available to classify the severity of tinnitus.  In the past, these questionnaires have also been used to evaluate tinnitus therapies, although they were not developed for this purpose. To solve this problem, a new questionnaire, the Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI), was developed at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in 2012. Our research group was able to validate the TFI translated into German for Switzerland in 2017 (https://hqlo.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12955-017-0669-x). At the same time, the TFI was also validated in Germany. However, the German versions for Germany and Switzerland show slight semantic differences in the individual questions. For this reason, a current study is comparing the two German versions of the TFI. In view of the ongoing standardization in tinnitus evaluation, it is our goal to agree on a single questionnaire in German-speaking countries.
