Transcranial electrical and acoustic stimulation for tinnitus

Funded by the Zürcher Stiftung für das Hören

Background

Tinnitus is associated with abnormal neuronal activity. Neuromodulation, a novel treatment, aims to modify this activity. Transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS) has shown promise as a treatment. Recent studies suggest that combining different stimulation techniques, such as tRNS with acoustic stimulation (AS), may enhance tinnitus reduction. This project aims to investigate whether simultaneous tRNS and AS can improve tinnitus loudness and distress.

Team

This project is a collaborative effort between experts from the University of Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from both academic and clinical perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the research.
